BTL collects 157,000 USD in revenue for two months starting in 2022

DILI, 24 May 2022 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste’s BEE (BTL.EP) raised $157 million in revenue between January and April 2022.

““Revenue comes from the cost of water, sanitation, water installation and the assembly station for the tightening and pressing of water meter,” BTL water consumer support manager Joaquim Correia Belo told Tatoli at his office in Caicoli Dili.

Belo explained all domestic consumers who have access to piped water are entitled to receive every thousand liters for 20 cents/per day. while for non-domestic consumers such as schools, hospitals, and churches, it is charged 10 cents per day and for government offices, it is charged 15 cents per day.

According to data from municipal governments across the country, the clean water utility in November 2021 is 100 meters3 and the water utility in December 2021 is 114 meters3.

The total consumption of clean water in one month is 14 m3. Thus, the total consumption of clean water consists of 0 to 14.00 (0-14 m3).

Joaquim Correia Belo also informed that on average each household consumes 14,000 liters of water per month.

He added, that 16,033 consumers had registered to benefit from drinking water, consisting of 15,267 local consumers and 766 international consumers.

It is known that in 2021 BTL has collected revenues of US$226,000 for state revenue.
