DILI, 31 may 2022 (TATOLI) — The Non-Governmental Organization of the International Plan of Timor-Leste (PITL) officially launches an online platform on reproductive health for women.
“The platform is aimed at providing the reproductive health information
primarily for children and adolescents, ” Director of PITL, Dillyana Ximenes, said at the commemoration of World Menstrual Day, at the Hotel Timor Dili.
Ximenes said at this event, health professionals also made young women aware of hygiene during menstruation.
The official said that the “Women and Technology” program, through a platform hosted at https://reprodutiva.tls.tl/, aims to provide information on reproductive health to children, youth, and other residents.
Plan International’s Ambassador in Timor-Leste, Cidália Mouzinho Nobre Lopes, praised PITL’s efforts in creating a platform to increase women’s comprehension of health.
“This is an important step to prevent early marriage for young people. Child marriages are often the results of a lack of education about reproductive health,” he said.
The Ambassador highlighted the need to share information on reproductive health because the school curriculum does not address this issue.
Cidália Mouzinho called on parents to accompany their children and the Government to “prioritize sanitation services in all schools for the students especially female students,”
The event was attended by more than 200 students from Junior and Senior high schools as well as representatives from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and Health.
