UNDP handed over 114 different categories of medical products to Timor-Leste

DILI, 13 june 2022 (TATOLI)- United Nations Development Program (UNDP) handed over 114 different categories of medical products to the government’s Drug and Medical Equipment Storage Agency (SAMES).

The support was transported by A World Food Program (WFP) flight that arrived at President Nicolau Lobato international airport today.

According to the statement released by the UNDP, the 114 different categories of medical products provided to Timor-Leste’s Ministry of Health were procured from different countries.

Following are the lists of the medical items provided by the UNDP:

  • 72 different categories of medical consumables (total volume: 185 cartons; 3,759.75 kgs/3.75 metric ton)
  • 38 different categories of medical equipment and instruments/accessorises (total volume: 216 cartons; 7,705.64 kgs/7.70 metric ton)
  • 4 different categories of essential medicines (total volume: 54 cartons; 707 kgs/0.70 metric tons)
  • The medical consumables include (big items only):
    • 25,000 units of see-through packing without gusset
    • 24,600 units of Steriking® sterilization pouch self-seal
    • 10,000 units 3-way stop cock Lipid resistant
    • 5,000 units of Gelatamp Curaspon
    • 3,000 rolls of hand towel rolls
    • 2,000 units of Fujifilm Medical X-ray film Super HR-U30
    • 1,000 units of Spongostan Absorbable Haemostatic Gelatin Sponge
    • 501 units of Vicryl Mesh 6×5 cm, resorbable
    • 500 bottles of Formaldehyde, 500 ml
    • 150 units of Universal CPAP Hose Tube 5.4 Foot Length 22 mm Diameter

The equipment, instruments, and accessories have been sourced and purchased from Belgium, China, Finland, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Poland, Switzerland, the UK, and the USA

  • The medical equipment and instruments/accessorize include (big items only):
    • 400 sets of Dressing Set
    • 300 sets of Delivery sets
    • 300 sets each of Pediatric and adult spo2 sensors for patient monitor
    • 100 sets of Mayor, Minor Basic Surgery Set
    • 100 sets of IUD set
    • 10 sets of OT lamp-led portable
    • 8 sets of Beneheart D3 Defibrillator/Monitor
    • 4 sets of Operating Table Electro-Hydraulic
    • 4 sets of Anaesthetic Machine
    • 5 sets of Orthopaedic instruments 

The medical equipment and instruments/accessories have been sourced and purchased from Austria, Germany, Pakistan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the USA, Taiwan, and China

  • The medicines include (big items only):

    • 300 sets each of Paediatric and adult spo2 sensors for patient monitor
    • 100 sets of Mayor, Minor Basic Surgery Set

    • 4 sets of Operating Table Electro-Hydraulic

The medical equipment and instruments/accessories have been sourced and purchased from Austria, Germany, Pakistan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the USA, Taiwan, and China

The medicines have been sourced and purchased from European Union Countries and India

  • The medicines include (big items only):
    • 190,000 tablets of Griseofulvin 125 mg – BP;
    • 5,000 units of Lignocaine 2% + Adrenaline 1:80.000 1.8ml dental cart;
    • 4,500 tablets of Cloxacillin 125 mg/5 ml pow.f.susp 100ml;
    • 2,000 tablets of Phenytoin sodium 100 mg

The UNDP Representative to Timor-Leste, Mukhtuyal Altangerel said, UNDP will continue to cooperate with the MoH to transport the remaining products.

“We continue to work with the Ministry of Health teams for the shipment of remaining medicines, consumables, equipment, and instruments.

Previously on 9 june 2022, UNDP received the amount of USD 5,400,000 plus additional USD$ 1,500,000 funds from MoH for the Health Procurement second phases project.

Of the total fund, UNDP has utilized $ 6,377,008.24 for the costs of medicines, medical equipment, instruments, shipment/insurance, and UNDP management services.

Meanwhile, the remaining budget of USD 522,991.76 will be used for the procurement of the remaining items and shipment-related costs (medicines and equipment).

“We would like to thank you for your strong trust in UNDP and the Ministry of Health teams for the efficient collaboration with UNDP teams in Dili and Copenhagen to ensure timely procurement and arrival of the essential medical supplies in Dili.” She concluded.
