DILI, 28 june 2022 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste National Under-19 Football Team left for Indonesia, today, to participate in the 2022 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U-19 Youth Championship.
The 18th edition of the AFF U-19 Youth Championship is organized by the ASEAN Football Federation. It is hosted by Indonesia, next month.
A total of 21 Timorese football players under 19, together with the national coach Eduardo Pereira left for Indonesia at around 11 am local time.
“This national team will compete in the 2022 AFF U-19 Youth Championship in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia,” said Frederico Martins, the Deputy Secretary-General of Timor-Leste’s Football Federation (FFTL), in Dili, today.
The following teams from member associations of the AFF entered the tournament: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
The competition is set to be kicked off on july 2 with Myanmar playing against Brunei’s national team at the Madya Stadium in Jakarta, at 15.00 local time, and the Philippines versus Thailand, at Patriot Candrabaga Stadium, at 17.00 local time.
Meanwhile, Timor-Leste will play its first match against Laos national team at Madya Stadium on sunday (03/07), at 15.00 local time. On the same day, the Singaporean national team will play against Cambodia at the same stadium at 19.00 local time.
Timor-Leste national team will play in another match on tuesday against Singapore at the Madya Stadium, at 19.00 local time.
On saturday (09/07), Timor-Leste will play its third match against the Malaysian national team at the Madya Stadium, at 19.00 local time.
Timor-Leste is set to play its last game against Cambodia on monday (11/07) at Madya Stadium, at 15.00 local time.
The group stage of the 2022 AFF U-19 Youth Championship is set to conclude on wednesday (13/07). While the final match of the competition is scheduled to take place on july 15.
