Democratic Party praises TATOLI for serving the public with information

DILI, 27 july 2022 (TATOLI) – The Member of Parliament of the Democratic Party (PD), Mariano Assanami Sabino praised Timor-Leste News Agency or TATOLI for serving the public with information.

“I would like to congratulate the journalists, editors, and the finance and administration staff on the celebration of the sixth anniversary of TATOLI. I praise your work and performance, so again congratulations to you all,” MP Assanami give his congratulation messages at the House of Parliament, on wednesday (27/07).

He said TATOLI played a crucial role in promoting democracy in the country: “I would definitely encourage TATOLI to keep up the good work.”

“PD will always support TATOLI. Your role and your mission are important to defend the rights of the Maubere People to participate in the process of national development,” he said.

Assanami reiterated that TATOLI must keep up its good work to promote the dignity of the nation and the people.

He said Timor-Leste News Agency or TATOLI has become the source of information for many other international media.

“Many international and local media had used TATOLI as the source of information. So, you need to continue and keep up the good work,” he said.

Assanami added like any other news agency, TATOLI also played a crucial role in state-building and strengthening democracy in the country.

He urges journalists from TATOLI to continue learning to keep their knowledge and skills current, saying journalists must abide by high ethical and professional standards: “The most important thing is you need to improve your writing skills.”

Timor-Leste News Agency or TATOLI always strives to provide fair, accurate, and reliable information to national, regional, and international audiences.

TATOLI is a national news agency delivering news across the country and the world in four different languages; Tetum, Portuguese, English, and Indonesian.

TATOLI was established following the decision of the Council of Ministers (CoM) on February 3, 2016, which was published in the Official Gazette of the President of the Republic march 16, 2016.

It was officially launched by former Prime Minister Rui Maria de Araújo, on june 27, 2016.

On march 7, 2017, the Council of Ministers approved the creation of TATOLI – Timor-Leste News Agency (in Portuguese: “TATOLI – Agência Noticiosa de Timor-Leste, IP”). The decision came following the creation of a news portal, then called ANTIL, in march of 2016. The main objective of TATOLI is to be the source of official information, with the production of information for national, regional, and international audiences. With a multichannel, multimedia, multiplatform and multitasking character, the News Agency may evolve and serve as a center for the production of cinema and State documentation, as a public opinion institute, as a forum for public information, as a center for the management of archives and State documentation, and as a center for communication applied training and research.
