DILI, 15 august 2022 (TATOLI) – Twenty-five young Timorese passed the interview session for the aviation-related scholarship, offered by the Air Navigation Administration Timor-Leste (ANA-TL) and Human Capital Development Fund (FDCH).
The 25 applicants are expected to have the medical examinations on monday before proceeding to the physical test on tuesday.
Both written and interview tests aimed to assess the knowledge of the applicants in science which took place at the Indonesian Cultural Center, in Dili, on Saturday.
The top six of the applicants will be chosen to receive the scholarships to pursue their Diploma III Degree at the Indonesian Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya, in the areas of Aviation Operations, Aviation Security, and Aviation Fire and Rescue.
“After the interview, the chosen applicants will be undergoing the medical examination on monday and the physical test on tuesday,” the President of the Air Navigation Administration Timor-Leste (ANA-TL), Jose Trindade da Cruz Pinto told TATOLI at the Indonesian Cultural on saturday.
He said 29 applicants were shortlisted for both written and interview tests, but only 25 candidates were passed to the next session which is the medical examination and physical test.
Pinto stressed that the test was fair and rigorous, saying the test papers and interview questions were prepared by the team of the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya, led by the Vice Coordinator, Hari Fitrianto.
“We only prepare the facilities, but the whole process of testing was prepared and conducted by the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya’s team, including the written and interview tests, medical examination, and physical test,” he emphasized.
Pinto said the final result of the test will be announced on wednesday, next week: “They will be likely to depart for Indonesia in the middle of september.”
“We have been in cooperation with the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya to take our young Timorese students to pursue their higher education in aviation-related areas. This is the second intake of this scholarship program. For the first intake, we have six students who will be graduating on august 19, this year,” Pinto said.
He emphasized that doing such important courses will contribute to the national development of the country.
“These young fellas will be our future leaders to manage and control our airports in the future. That’s why I asked them to use the opportunity wisely to learn and improve themselves during their time in Indonesia.”
At the same place, the Vice Coordinator of the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya, Hari Fitrianto thanked ANA-TL and FDCH for choosing the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya as a partner to contribute to the Timor-Leste’s human resource development, especially in the aviation-related areas.
“We hope this cooperation will continue for many years to come to provide more opportunities for young Timorese to pursue their education and career in the aviation-related areas,” he said.
In 2022, FDCH allocated around 31.000 for the proposed human resource development program of ANA-TL. While the Government of Timor-Leste allocated around US$12 million of the 2022 General State Budget for FDCH.
