The Indonesian Embassy commemorates the 77th anniversary of independence in Timor – Leste

DILI, 17 august 2022 (TATOLI) – The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian community in Timor-Leste celebrated the Indonesian 77th anniversary of Independence Day with the flag hoisting ceremony by the Indonesia Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Okto Dorinus Manik at the office of the Embassy in Dili.

The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Recover together and Recover Stronger’, which revealed the economic recovery after the covid-19 pandemic.

“Indonesia has been independent for 77 years, with this year’s anniversary celebration, Indonesia will rise to recover a strong economy fairly for the prosperity of the people and invite all countries including Timor – Leste to recover together by stabilizing the economy through trade investment in Timor – Leste,” said Indonesian Ambassador Okto Dorinus Manik to reporters after the Flag-Raising Ceremony at the Indonesian Embassy in Farol, Dili, Wednesday.

At the same time, Ambassador Manik assumed this 77th-anniversary celebration that holds in Dili, Timor-Leste also marks the history between Indonesia and Timor-Leste for the bilateral relations from june 2002 until today.

“The bilateral relationship between Timor-Leste and Indonesia has been very peaceful for 20 years, we have a lot of progress in our relationship between people to people, business, in Education, many Timor-Leste students pursue their education in Indonesia, and cooperation in other sectors agriculture, fisheries, security, and other relevant sectors. We hope that this cooperation will continue to improve the welfare of the people of both countries in the future,” he said.

In this particular celebration, Indonesia also hopes that Timor – Leste, will grow and be strong together because Timor – Leste is a neighbor country and a brother to Indonesia that cannot be separated from one land and have almost the same cultural similarities, therefore this diversity must be maintained to ensure the peace between the two countries.

” This 77th anniversary we hope that Timor – Leste, and Indonesia will continue to increase the economic trade through the investments which are made by State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and other private sector companies to be able to recover the economy together after recovering from the COVID-19 disease.
