DILI, 21 september 2022 (TATOLI)— The Council of Ministers has approved an amendment to the decree law on licensing of economic activity introduced by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and Coordination, Joaquim Amaral on Wednesday (22/9/2022).
“The new amendments do not have a distinct effect on the risk of economic activity and offer approval on the regular framework on the classification of economic activities in Timor-Leste,” President of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães said after the Council meeting at the Dili Government Palace on Wednesday.
Magalhaes said the Government is set to complete all types of authorizations that apply without reason for bureaucratic procedures intending to find work with efficiency and free initiatives including the management of real employers from the private, cooperative and social sectors, as stated in Article 138 of the Timor-Leste Constitution.
It is therefore proposed to effectuate the licensing process straightforwardly and transparently, through the consolidation of licensing reforms for economic activities initiated in the last five years to clarify procedures that reduce validation and reduce the burden on domestic businesses.
