DILI september 25, 2022 (TATOLI)– Ba Futuru non-governmental organization (NGO) launched the 2022-2026 strategic plan focusing on eliminating violence against children and women, encouraging all young people to participate in peacebuilding and productive action.
Executive Director of the NGO Ba Futuru, Juliana De Oliveira Marçal said Ba Futuru works with a vision to bring Timor-Leste free from violence against children and women and involve all Timorese to participate effectively in the country building in promoting peace through positive and productive activities.
“We launched this new strategic plan to achieve the NGO’s vision. We use innovative missions as a way to protect children to reduce violence against children and women,” Marcal told media in Rai-Kotu, Friday.
Marcal said through this strategic plan the NGOs would empower women and inspire children, adding that they should gain knowledge about avoiding violence by ensuring maximum participation of youth in the country’s development.
“During the 18 years of the existence of the ‘Ba FUTURU’, we have a reflection that this NGO is growing to be measured,” She said.
According to Marcal, Ba Futuru has also implemented various programs for the community in 12 municipalities including RAEOA: ” Programs are focused on activities that educate people about human rights, capacity building, child protection, positive discipline, gender-based balance, transformative leadership, empowerment women’s economy, as well as youth programs,”
“Ba Futuru currently employs 36 staff, assists five board members, and has several donors including the international NGO Mecerior Germany, Unicef, UNDP, Avia Mundu, Child Fund Timor-Leste, and others,” he explained.
The National Director of the Children’s Fund, Erine Dijkstra congratulated the 18th anniversary of the assistance of the NGO Ba Futuru, saying it was great to support the Ba Futuru at the launch of a new strategic plan for 2022 to 2026.
“Child Fund and Ba Futuru have been partners for more than six years. We work together on a program called the Youth Change Makers program. This program provides change makers to the young generation with life skills, to bring the younger generation in a positive direction. become agents of change in society,” said Dijkstra.
The Child Fund has provided funding for the program as well as monitoring and evaluating program implementation. The two NGOs work together to build strong programs and partnerships.
So far, the Child Fund has provided financial support for the implementation of the USD 100,000 Youth Change Maker program.
From 2004 to 2022, Ba Futuru benefited more than 50,000 Timorese through education programs.
