Over 237 applicants from four municipalities access the third BIC program


DILI, 17 october 2022 (TATOLI) – More than 237 applicants from the municipality attended the third phase of the Business Innovative Challenge (BIC).

The MTCI statement issued stated that the third-stage applicants came from four municipalities, Baucau, Manatuto, Viqueque, and Lautem.

“A total of 237 applicants consist of 67 women and 170 men, whose business locations are based in the municipality wherein Baucau 28%, Manatuto 22%, Viquque 24% and Lautem 26%. While the total number of most of their activities is in the productive sector. such as Agriculture 37%, Industry 22%, Trade 16%, Fisheries 8%, Tourism 7%, and Food Technology and Innovation 10%. ” the statement said.

Based on the data, the total fund proposed by their proposal to support their investment is around 1,154,600.00 USD.

In addition, The Business Innovation Challenge has been organized by the Minister of Trade and Tourism Industry (MTCI), the Instituto de Apoio Ao Desenvolvementu Empresarial (IADE), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and is funded by the Government of Timor-Leste and Korea International Corporation (KOICA) with about 1,154,600.00 USD.

The statement explained that the first step of this program was followed by the announcement of the results, saying the team announced the results of the document selection and applicants who entered Pre-Bootcamp.

The second stage was held in May 2022, 200 applicants registered for the BCI program, and only 51 applicants passed the document selection and continued to Pre-Bootcamp.

The final results announced that 25 applicants were selected to complete the semi-finals of the Pre-Bootcamp stage which took place from the last 30 May to 1 June 2022.
