DILI, 24 november 2022 (TATOLI) – WHO Timor-Leste on wednesday handed over the first lot of larvicide (abate-375 kg) for immediate use to the Ministry of Health (MoH) for preventing dengue.

“An additional 625 kg of Abate and 800 liters of insecticide (malathion) are being procured by WHO Timor-Leste and will be handed over to the MoH soon,” WHO said in a statement.

To prevent the mosquito-borne disease, WHO has been supporting the MoH in spreading awareness, and on wednesday it also handed over more than 50,000 pamphlets, and nearly 80 standees and banners.

In addition, WHO also supported the MoH with anti-Leprosy drugs for the National Leprosy Program, and food supplements for leprosy patients who are being managed by the AEATL (Leprosy Association of Timor-Leste).

A laptop and printer were also provided to support the noble work of AEATL in reducing stigma, and discrimination and improving treatment adherence among leprosy patients.
