DILI, 13 december 2022 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, and the Malaysian Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, on monday (12/12), discussed the possibility of increasing Malaysian investments in Timor-Leste, to support Timor-Leste’s development.
The two leaders agreed that energy and maritime transport are the two important areas that interest both countries, where Timor-Leste has the potential.
“Malaysian investors are very interested to invest in the country, especially in the areas of energy, and maritime transport, President Horta said upon his arrival at Nicolau Lobato International Airport.
Horta said Malaysia’s investors are also interested to invest in other sectors such as agriculture, etc.
The State visit of the President of the Republic to Malaysia aimed at strengthening bilateral relations with this ASEAN member state.
Horta recalled that Anwar Ibrahim, together with his cabinet members committed to strengthening Malaysia’s special ties with Timor-Leste.
During the visit, President Horta also met with the King of Malaysia, Agong Al Sultan Abdullah, to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
