DILI, 23 dedcember 2022 (TATOLI) – The Cardinal of Timor-Leste, Virgílio do Carmo da Silva SDB urged all families, youth, and all Timorese to embrace peace during the celebration of Christmas for the good of the country.
Cardinal Virgilio implored the Timorese people, especially the youth, to see each other as brothers and sisters, which is necessary to maintain peace and stability in the county.
“As we all prepare to celebrate Christmas, I urge you, my Catholic brothers and sisters, to embrace and cultivate peace in the hearts of each and every one of us. The presence of Jesus brings peace to every family, every young individual, and every Timorese in the country. Thus, the arrival of Jesus on earth is the symbol of peace and brings light to the darkness.” Cardinal Virgílio said in his Christmas message, in Dili, today.
He reiterated that the arrival of Jesus is to shine the light of hope, peace, joy, and love on all people.
“I would like to encourage all Timorese youth to become an instrument of peace in the country. The good news for each one of us is that ‘Jesus is coming into the world because of me’. ‘He is looking and approaching each one of us and entering our lives. Jesus Christ is a Symbol of God’s love,” Cardinal Virgilio stressed.
He wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year: “Christmas 2022 brings joy to all Government authorities, the Catholic Church, and to all Catholic believers throughout Timor-Leste.”
“Don’t let this opportunity pass you by. Let us receive our King. The arrival of the Lord Jesus is the fundamental reason for the celebration of Christmas. Jesus is the source of peace and love for each one of us,” Cardinal Virgilio concluded.
