DILI, 05 january 2023 ( TATOLI)– National Institution of Prevention and Combating the HIV/AIDS in Timor-Leste (INCSIDA, IP) has been conducting the primary prevention of HIV/AIDS to 120,000 Timorese in 14 municipalities.
The Executive President of INCSIDA, IP, Atanasio de Jesus, told Tatoli during the interview.
According to Atanasio, the education of primary prevention was conducted from 2014 to 2022, in 14 municipalities in Timor – Leste.
“We have socialized the prevention of primary education for HIV/AIDS in 14 municipalities, 40 Sub – Administrative posts, 120 villages and had benefited 120,000 Timorese,” He said.
The purpose of this primary education prevention was to
socializing the risk of HIV/ AIDS disease to participants to be aware of this disease.
However, Atanasio de Jesus said, currently INCSIDA, IP has not covered all the municipalities, adding that INCSIDA, IP plan to cover by 2023.
“We will continue to socialize the prevention of education primary of HIV/AIDS to all the municipalities in 2023 to share the information about the risk of HIV/ AIDS disease in Timor – Leste. Hopfully this program will help the communities to be aware of this disease,”
HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system. If HIV is not treated, it can lead to AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). There is currently no effective cure. Once people get HIV, they have it for life. But with proper medical care, HIV can be controlled.
