DILI, 1 february 2022 (TATOLI)– Food, Economy, and Sanitary Inspection (AIFAESA) will receive one free laboratory vehicle from the Indonesian Embassy in Timor Leste in 2023.
Inspector General of AIFAESA, Ernesto Monteiro said the laboratory vehicle unit would be given to Timor-Leste following the agreement signed between AIFAESA and the Indonesian Embassy in the previous months.
“Timor-Leste will benefit from a mobile laboratory unit free of charge, but AIFAESA will be responsible for its maintenance,” AIFAESA Inspector General Ernesto Monteiro told Tatoli at the Tatoli office, faról, this Wednesday.
He added, AIFAESA does not have an exact date for the arrival of a mobile laboratory unit in Timor-Leste, but it will arrive as soon as possible to support AIFAESA to do the inspection and product quality control also including some products that pose a threat to consumer health.
At the same time, Monteiro said, AIFAESA has also provided more than 40 thousand USD for the procurement of one mobile laboratory unit but the amount provided is not enough for one mobile laboratory unit.
” One mobile laboratory unit can cost more than 60 thousand USD and it is not including the interior equipment consisting of quality item tests,” He explained.
Monteiro suggested the government money has been provided with an amount of over 40 thousand. AIFAESA will be used for maintenance and capacity building.
“We will send some of AIFAESA’s staff to Indonesia to attend the capacity building on mobile laboratory operation and maintenance,’’ He concluded
