DILI, 7 february 2023 (TATOLI)- United Nations and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) informed the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta of the willingness to support the upcoming Parliamentary Election, in 2023.
UN Resident Coordinator Funmi Balogun said the purpose of the meeting with the President of the Republic was to inform that the UN is willing to support the government for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
“The purpose of the meeting with the President of the Republic of Timor Leste is to inform the President about the UN’s willingness to assist the Government in procuring election ink and other election costs, which are necessary to conduct parliamentary elections,” UN Resident Coordinator Funmi Balogun told reporters at the Presidential Palace, Bairru Pité, this Monday.
He added that UNDP was responsible for procuring election ink and the process was ongoing.
“Political parties need to verify the authenticity of the election ink and the test ink will arrive at the end of February, so after the final verification test, UNDP will bring over 10,400 and 12,400 bottles of election ink to TL in the mild of April,” she said.
At the same time, Ms. Balogun stressed that at the meeting the UN once again assured the president that the UN is ready to provide the necessary tools to support the government for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
