DILI, 11 february 2023 (TATOLI)— National Hospital of Guido Valadares (HNGV ) together with the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Dili hold a mass for the celebration of the 31st World sick Day.

The Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Dili, Priest Graciano Barros in his homily called on the patients to put their trust in the health workers because Health workers had sworn to serve professionally.

“We must collaborate with health workers to save our lives and accompany them with prayers,” said Pr. Graciano at the HNGV Chapel, on saturday.

Priest also congratulated the health workers who were tireless in providing services and wished them good health to serve the sick.

Meanwhile, HGNV Executive Director, Alito Soares said that so far his party has continued to strive to serve sick patients, even though HNGV itself receives between 150 and 200 patients every day.

“HNGV receives between 150 and 200 patients daily in the emergency room. Among these, more than 30 patients were hospitalized and some were transferred from referral hospitals,” he said.

Alito Soares explained the patients who came to the hospital had respiratory problems and the majority were children. So far, HNGV has continued to transfer cancer and cardiovascular disease patients abroad.

“Even though we are still constrained by infrastructure and equipment, we have adequate human resources, as many as 63 specialist doctors to help patients. I urge all people to come to the hospital unit when they are sick,” he said.

Regarding the celebration of World day of Sick, he asked health workers to establish friendships with patients, apart from performing their profession.
