DILI, 21 february 2023 (TATOLI) – The National Parliament approved the draft Military Programming Law in generality with 40 votes in favor, zero against, and zero abstentions.
“The draft law on the Military Programming Law was approved by Members of Parliament during Tuesday’s plenary session,” said the President of the National Parliament, Aniceto Guterres.
He said the draft bill would be handed over to the Parliamentary Committee B which deals with Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Security Affairs to discuss the specialty.
The Minister of Defense, Filomeno da Paixão de Jesus, said that the draft bill would help to frame the budget for public spending on equipment and weapons, with aim of building the military capabilities needed to sustain the National Defense Force (F-FDL).
It is recalled that the Council of Ministers approved, on november 23, 2022, the draft Military Programming Bill, presented by the Minister of Defense, Filomeno da Paixão de Jesus.
