DILI, 09 march 2023 (TATOLI)— Representative ofCWP- a renewable energy development company from Japan accompanied by the Japanese Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Tetsuya Kimura met Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak to discuss support for the management of the clean water supply system.
“We met Prime Minister to introduce CWP company to the PM this company works in the clean water treatment sector. Clean water is very important, therefore CWP’s presence here will help install a small-scale clean water supply system in remote areas and the municipality of Dili,” Ambassador Tetsuya explained at the Government Office, Thursday.
CWP Chairman Kon Yosuke realized that the process of implementing a clean water supply system in TL was still hampered due to a lack of human resources and a budget for implementation.
“We wish to help and prepare employment for clean water engineers (handymen/technicians) by providing training and they can do internships in Timor-Leste to Japan to gain more experience,” he added.
On this occasion, Ambassador Tetsuya Kimura also introduced Kanazawa University Japan which has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UNTL (Universidade Nacional Timor Lorosa’e) and INCT (Instituto Nacional Ciência e Tecnologia).
Representative of the Kanzawa University of Japan, Professor Makoto Fujiu said the agreement was previously signed by the Kanzawa University of Japan and focused on infrastructure maintenance by providing water equipment and also conducting study research on clean water.
“The MoU had been signed by both sides and soon we will conduct a joint study with students from UNTL,” he said.
It was explained that the agreement was made with INCT to provide joint training and research in the education, science, and technology sectors as well.
