PM appointed a special team to evaluate 333 proposals from civil organizations to SASCAS

DILI 20 march 2023 (TATOLI)– Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak appointed a special team to evaluate 333 proposals submitted for public subsidies focusing on 15 important sectors.

The appointed team will be led by the Director of Public Subsidies, Isaías Soares Guterres as the president of the judging team who will work with 12 other judges to evaluate the documents.

The team consists of staff from the Minister of Health (MoH), Minister of Agriculture (MoA), Minister of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS), CCLN, FONGTIL, KD-RENAS, AJAR, and ADTL.

SASCAS Executive Director, Edvin Duarte Soares Noronha said, a total of 333 proposals had been submitted to the SASCAS office while the team would carry out an evaluation process of 15 potential sectors within a week.

“The proposals for public subsidy will be focused on 15 essential sectors consisting of Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Public Health, Tourism, Religion, Resistance, social auditoriums, basic infrastructure, and others,” said SASCAS Executive Director, Edvin Duarte Soares Noronha in a statement seen by Tatoli.

Noronha explained that the public subsidy provided by SASCAS is worth 8 million USD, which was approved by the National Parliament in the 2023 State Budget.

“Of the total budget, one million USD will be used for the administrative functions of SASCA, while 7 million USD will be allocated for public subsidies to support the programs of civil organizations,”

Noronha said that public subsidies were divided into several amounts consisting of communitarian groups worth $ 1.5 million, subsidies for Non-Catholic religions $ 2 million, resistance organizations $ 1.6 million, and social auditorium services of 60 thousand USD.

“This amount also includes the amount approved for the construction of a monument to the late Francisco Xavier do Amaral at the Turiscai administrative post,” he said.
