DILI, 30 march 2023 (TATOLI)—The President of the Republic (PR), José Ramos Horta, said will facilitate three electric wheels to support the business activities of the street vendors.
Three-wheeled vehicles will facilitate all traders in the Dili Municipality, especially the Timorese women traders in Dili.
“I hope that this year and beyond I will support another new three-wheeled vehicle that uses electricity and non-electricity, for all three-wheeled traders in Dili City,” the President Republic, Jose Ramos Horta, told reporters in his speech at the launch of Express Babadok, in Dili Convention Center ( DCC) Mercado Lama, on Thursday.
According to Horta, women are more reliable in economic management in the family, so it is necessary to support women.
“Timorese women also can do business, therefore, the Cabinet of Presidency had worked together with UN Woman, and has supported four electric wheels to support Timorese women’s business, to ensure the public health and keep their goods remain clean and have a quality to pull the client to buy the goods,” the President explained.
Previously, the Presidency had also assisted Timorese female traders in the form of three wheels for trading.
President, Horta hopes that this support can help street vendors to do business for helping the economy of the family and to contribute to the economic growth of the country.
