DILI, 17 april 2023 (TATOLI) – Timorese National Police (PNTL), launched, today, its 2023-2030 Strategic Plan to ensure peace and stability in the country.
Strategic Plan is a foundational document that will guide the PNTL through 2030 in delivery of its services to the community.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, the General Commander of the PNTL, Henrique da Costa, said that the Strategic Plan defines the mission, vision, and values that the PNTL will uphold through to 2023.
“This strategic plan sets out our objective and directive strategy in order to carry out the police services in accordance with the law to serve the community,” Costa said in his remarks, in Dili, today.
He said the Strategic Plan will guide the PNTL to ensure that citizens are safe and protected in the country, saying it will boost communities’ trust in Timorese police.
At the same place, the Vice-Minister of Interior, António Armindo, said that the Strategic Plan is crucial to develop PNTL, in order to contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the country.
Armando called on the PNTL General Commander to boost human resources in order to effectively implement the strategic plan: “A good strategic plan will be properly implemented when we have prepared and trained the human resources.”
On behalf of the Minister of Interior and the current Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, Armindo thanked all parties for their support in contributing to the drafting of the Strategic Plan.
“I would like to thank all parties for their contribution in turning bright ideas into a good strategic plan,” Armindo said.
The Strategic Plan was officially launched due to the support of important partners, including the Asia Foundation (TAF), the NGO Belun and Mahein, the National University Timor-Lorosa’e (UNTL), and UNPAZ.
