DILI, 23 may 2023 (TATOLI) – The Manager of Tuberculosis (TB) in the Bairo – Pite Clinic, José Maia Soares, informed that, from the beginning of January to May 23, the clinic recorded 204 cases of TB and 6 fatalities.

“We recorded 204 cases of TB since the beginning of January to 23 May, of the 204 cases including one child aged 7 years and 6 fatalities,” Program Manager José Maia Soares told TATOLI in Bairo – Pite Clinic, Dili on tuesday.

He explained that, from the 204 TB cases, there are 22 patients were treated at the Institute Secular Maun Alin iha Cristo (Ismaic) and the others received the medicine regularly at the Bairo – Pite Clinic.

“TB patients are required to fulfill the schedule of drinking the medicine regularly during 6-9 months to recover from your disease, if not will cause fatality. Bairo – Pite Clinic is ready to assist and provide the service for you,” he said.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by germs that are spread from person to person through the air. TB usually affects the lungs, but it can also affect other parts of the body, such as the brain, the kidneys, or the spine. A person with TB can die if they do not get treatment.
