Govt ready to hand over reports of its five-year mandate

DILI, 24 may 2023 (TATOLI) – The outgoing Government, under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, will hand over the report of its five-year mandate to the IX Constitutional Government, in june 2023.

“I informed the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, about the Government’s preparations to hand over its five-year mandate to the new government,” Prime Minister Ruak told reporters after meeting President Horta at the President’s Palace, in Dili, today.

Ruak said that the last meeting of the Council of Ministers will take place on 17 june.

He said the report of each ministry will be handed over to the new government soon after the official announcement of the results of the parliamentary elections.

“Our mandate has come to an end and we have already fulfilled our mission to contribute to national development,” Ruak said.

Horta thanked the Head of Government for the work done during his five-year mandate, especially with regard to ending the political impasse, the fight against Covid-19, and the response to the April 4 flash floods.

During the meeting, Ruak asked Horta not to delay the launching of the Díli International Airport project and the Timor-Leste membership to ASEAN.

On June 22, 2018, Taur Matan Ruak took office as Prime Minister of the VIII Constitutional Government.
