DILI, 16 june 2023 (TATOLI)— The Government of China through its Embassy in Timor Leste, together with the Chinese Medical Team today handed over the medical equipment of six Holter ECGs and six Laptops to the Guido Valadares National Hospital (HNGV) for supporting the Cardiology service system in Timor – Leste.
The Ambassador of China in Timor – Leste, Xu Dan Yang informed that China has always firmly supported Timor-Leste’s medical and health development. Over the past three years of the epidemic, China and Timor-Leste have supported each other and helped to overcome the difficulties faced by Timor – Leste.

Tmkko enhance these commitment Chinese Medical Team and the Association of Chinese Companies in Timor-Leste today donated 6 Holter ECGs and 6 laptops to promoting a dynamic electrocardiogram examination project in hospitals across Timor-Leste, which will be used on the heart disease treatment in Timor-Leste” the Ambassador of China in Timor – Leste Xu Dan Yang told reporters at HNGV Bidau Toko Baru, Dili on friday.
Ambassador, Xu Dan Yang, said China is committed to continuing to support the Ministry of Health and the HNGV to develop the Health sector in Timor – Leste.
The Minister of Health (MoH), Odete Maria Freitas Belo, appreciated China’s assistance which always supported the Ministry of Health to improve the quality of the health sector in Timor – Leste.
” I thanked the Government of China through its Embassy for providing support of health equipment, Holter ECG, and laptop to support the work of cardiology in Timor – Leste,” she said.
Minister Belo said, currently the Ministry of Health is working together with China and Cuba, ‘s medical experts including the cardiology specialists, to strengthen the health service system at HNGV and the hospitals in the Municipality.
At the same place, Cardiology Specialist, Herculano Seixas dos Santos, said that the six holter ECG will be distributed four units to the hospitals in the municipalities of Maliana, Suai, Baucau, and RAEO, to support the cardiologist’s service.
“The function of Holter is for heart monitoring, will be used during 24 hours, to detect the heart disease,” he said.
According to Santos, until now heart disease in HNGV is the highest among other diseases, where in 2022, HNGV recorded 152 patients with heart disease and 28 of them died, hopefully from this equipment will support the hospital in Timor – Leste to reduce the death affected by heart disease in Timor – Leste.
