DILI, 10 october 2023 (TATOLI) – Today, the Timor-Leste Red Cross (CVTL) and Bairo Pite Clinic (BPC) each received an ultrasound machine from Vincent Braganza, a doctor from Germany.
“The delivery of these ultrasound machines will help CVTL and BPC to improve health services,” Dr Branganza said at the handover ceremony, in Dili, today.
Braganza has always committed to supporting Timor-Leste in improving the health sector to guarantee access to health for all.
He has been working as a doctor in the country since 2014, not only providing treatment to the locals but also offering cardiology training to more than 80 Timorese doctors, with a focus on using the ultrasound machine. He offered training to 20 CVTL employees, 20 doctors from the Timor-Leste Medical Association (AMTL), 20 doctors from the Maliana Referral Hospital, and 20 doctors from the Guido Valadares National Hospital.
The president of CVTL expressed, Madalena Hanjam her deep appreciation to Dr Braganza for supporting the two ultrasound units to improve health services delivery in the country.
The Executive Director of BPC, Inácio do Santos, also thanked Braganza for supporting his clinic with the ultrasound machine, saying that the machine will facilitate midwives’ work in supporting pregnant mothers.
“I hope that with this kind of support, we can contribute to combating maternal deaths in the country,” said Santos.
Last month, Braganza was awarded the Order of Timor-Leste by the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, for his outstanding contribution to Timor-Leste’s health sector since 2014.
