DILI, 22 november 2023 (TATOLI) – The first intake of undergraduate nursing students from the Catholic University of Timor-Leste (UCT) have started their internship program.

During the launch ceremony held at the UCT Campus in Dili, a total of 79 UCT medical interns pledged to dedicate themselves to learning new skills and experiences during the internship program.

The 79 medical interns will be deployed to various health centers in Timor-Leste.

UCT Rector, Joel Casmiro Pinto said, the internship program is really important because it gives students a chance to learn practical skills and gain experience in their field.

At the same place, Cardinal Virgílio do Carmo encouraged the 79 interns to do well during the internship program.

“I believe nursing for many of you is a heavenly calling. It’s not just a profession. If you feel called to nursing, then you are blessed to care for the sick and those who need help,” said Pinto.

The representative of the President’s Office, Jesuina Ferreira, urged the medical students to serve their communities well by giving back to the community and helping others.

She said that in order to be a nursing professional, academic and professional integrity must be guaranteed.
