DILI, 12 december 2023 (TATOLI) – The National Music Association of Timor-Leste (ALMAMOR) expected the ninth government to implement the decree law of the right of music author must commence in 2024 to forbid the imitation and the copyright of the right of author for the music and original products.
The President of ALMAMOR Committed Organizer, Leopoldo Moniz Dos Santos Maia, said the four congresses will be held from december 15 to 16 and will include the presentation of the code of rights for authors.
“On the first day of the congress, the expert will present the decree laws of the right of the author; the presentation will describe the decree laws for all products, especially the products of art and music,’’ Leopoldo Moniz Dos Santos Maia told journalists in the ALMAMOR office in Bemori on tuesday.
He added that the presentation will focus on how to protect the original products and also include music products. The Code Music author decrees laws to safeguard the original product and not allow any imitation products.
It is known that the decree ruled in favor of the author on June 20, 2022. The President of the Republic of José Ramos Horta promulgates it in 2022.
“In the pilot phase, the Secretary of State of Art and Culture (SoSAC), which was fully supported by the Minister of Youth and Sport (MJDAC), socialized these decree laws to the civic society organization to increase understanding of the decree laws,’’ he explained.
Mr. Moniz informed that ALMAMOR will have two days in the national congress to reelect the new structure and commit to implementing decree laws on the rights of music authors.
So far, the congress will be held on december 15–16, 2023, at the Catholic University in Balide Dili.
This event is funded by the Minister of Youth, Sport, Art, and Culture (MJDAC), private companies, and the China Community Organization, worth over 30.000 USD.
