DILI, 17 january 2023 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste, through the Council of Ministers, on Wednesday, approved a draft decree-law for the regulation of the National Council for Sovereignty, Food Security and Nutrition in Timor-Leste (CONSSAN-TL).
The draft Decree-Law was presented by the Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for Social Affairs, and Minister for Rural Development and Community Housing, Mariano Assanami Sabino.
This draft Decree-Law aims to establish a regulatory framework for the effective implementation of food security and nutrition policies in the country.
The law defines the composition and responsibilities of CONSSAN-TL, sets up an Inter-ministerial Working Group and a Permanent Technical Secretariat to support the coordination and implementation of these policies.
“It also proposes the creation of municipal representations to ensure decentralized and effective implementation of the established guidelines,” said in a statement.
The ultimate goal is to ensure a coordinated and efficient approach to promoting food and nutrition security in Timor-Leste.
