DILI, 05 march 2024 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta, on tuesday, provided construction materials for the rehabilitation and construction of the new buildings of the Kamalai parallel basic education school, in Urahou village, Maubisse Administrative Post, Ainaro Municipality.
In addition to the construction materials, the Head of State and his team also handed over school furniture, including chairs and tables to facilitate teaching and learning at the Kamalai school.
The Kamalai School is located in a very remote area with difficult conditions, therefore according to Head of State Ramos-Horta, it needs urgent support
“We have a budget from the Presidency of the Republic for the immediate purchase of chairs and tables for students, as well as for the purchase of laptops and printers for teachers, including nutritious food,” said President Horta in a statement.
The Head of State will also continue to support the school meal program for the Kamalai school.
He said that he will ask some international agencies to support the rehabilitation and construction of the new building of the Kamalai school in the near future, which will be equipped with solar panels.
Regarding the promotion of local tourism in Maubisse, President Horta already has a plan to organize an international festival in Rabilau this year.
Following his visit to Maubisse, Horta urged the government to support the development of agriculture and the local market in Maubisse to accommodate the festival.
