DILI, 11 march 2024 (TATOLI) – The French Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor-Leste, Fabien Penone, met with the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, to discuss strengthening cooperation in various areas.
“We discussed several important points to accelerate Timor-Leste’s development in the areas of the economy, business, tourism and agriculture,” said the diplomat, after the meeting with the Head of State, at the Presidential Palace, in Dili.
According to Fabien Penone, cooperation in the area of defense and maritime security was also discussed, as well as support for Timor-Leste’s accession to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The French ambassador also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito Freitas, to discuss ways in which the French government could contribute to the training of Timorese human resources and administrative reform. Strategies to strengthen investment in hotels and tourism were also discussed, as well as the promotion of local gastronomy.
