DILI, 26 march 2024 (TATOLI) – The Many Hands One Nation, known as The MAHON Foundation is committed to include a module on gender equality and social inclusion in all its training programs.

“Integrating a module on this topic into our training programs is essential to promote female leadership in our institution and to encourage gender equality in access to work,” MAHON Foundation’s Executive Director, Leonito Caetano, told Tatoli in Farol, Dili.

According to Caetano, MAHON in partnership with the Japanese embassy, has jointly carried out inclusive and equal education programs.

“In four years we have built three schools in the municipalities of Bobonaro and Covalima to promote and ensure the participation of children with physical disabilities in education,” said Leonito Caetano.

When asked about the government’s plans for gender equality and social inclusion, the Head of the Gender Unit at the Secretariat of State for Equality (SoSE), Abílio Barreto, said that the government is committed to establishing partnerships with local NGOs, such as MAHON, to promote women’s rights and guarantee access to education, work, and health for people with disabilities.

“The government is committed to leaving no one behind. We want to guarantee access to inclusive, quality, and equitable education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all,” said Barreto.

He emphasized that government will work to ensure that men and women enjoy the same opportunities, income, rights, and obligations in all areas.
