DILI, 03 may 2024 (TATOLI) – WFP Pakistan welcomed Veronica Das Dores, Minister of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI) of Timor-Leste, along with her delegation consisting of government officials and colleagues from the WFP Timor-Leste country office.
The delegation is currently on a study tour in Pakistan to learn from the Nutrition Sensitive Social Protection Program under the government’s Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), while also seeking insights into social protection initiatives and avenues for collaboration with the Government of Pakistan.
In collaboration with BISP, WFP launched the Benazir Nashonuma Programme(BNP) in 2020 to prevent stunting.
The Timor-Leste delegation has visited BNP Facilitation Centers and witnessed and studied the process from registration to graduation of the program.
Minister Dores appreciated the hospitality of the Pakistani people and the support received from both the Government and WFP.
She said she looks forward to replicating social protection interventions witnessed in Pakistan to improve Timor-Leste’s own programs for its most vulnerable population and make the national social protection capable to assist all groups suffering the impact of different hazards.
