DILI, 12 july 2024 (TATOLI) – The actual execution rate of the 2024 General State Budget (GSB) reached US$585.3 million, or 32 percent of the total budget of US$1.95 billion.
According to the Director General of Planning and Budgeting of the Ministry of Finance, José Alexandre, the execution rate in each expenditure category corresponds to the Wages and Salaries, with 41 percent, equivalent to US$468 million, Goods and Services, with 20 percent, equivalent to US$78.3 million, and the Minor Capital, with 17 percent, equivalent to US$ 5.9 million.
The Capital Development category, on the other hand, an important category for creating jobs and generating employment in the country, has an execution rate of only 8 percent.
In december last year, the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, promulgated the General State Budget (GSB) for the Fiscal Year 2024, totaling US$1.95 billion for the Central Administration, the Special Administrative Region of Oé-Cusse Ambeno (RAEOA) and Social Security, without the Social Security Reserve Fund.
The US$1,95 billion includes an allocation of US$1.83 billion for the Central Administration and US$60 million for the RAEOA.
Of the total expenditure planned for the Central Administration and RAEOA, US$468.8 million is for wages and salaries, US$386.3 million for goods and services, US$589.7 million for public transfers, US$34.2 million for minor capital and US$411 million for development capital.
The Social Security budget, including the Social Security Reserve Fund, amounts to US$347.6 million,” according to the document from the Presidency of the Republic.
Of the US$1,95 billion, US$788.2 million was allocated for economic affairs, US$467.1 million for social protection, US$140.9 million for education, US$66.2 million for health, and US$45.2 million for housing and collective infrastructure.
