DILI, 06 january 2025 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste National Institute of Statistics, I.P. (INETL, I.P) revealed that the data collected last november 2024, in the country when compared to the previous month, indicate that the country registered deflation of around 0,2%, compared to a decrease of 0.2% in the previous month.
According to the report, the significant fall of the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (-0.4%), Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance (-0.2%), and Transports (-0.1%) groups.
“The Largest offsetting movement came from Alcohol and Tobacco (+0.2%) and Clothing and Footwear (+0.2%) groups,” said in a statement.
The 12-month Tradeable CPI rate stood at –0.5%, with the Non-Tradeable rate a rice +0.5%.
The largest upward contributions to the change in the one month CPI rate (-0.2%) between November 2024 and October 2024, came from:
- Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.4%): which was significantly driven by Vegetables (-1.3%), Sugar, Jam, Honey, Chocolate and Confectionary (-2.1%), Rice (-0.2%), Fish and Seafood (-0.4%) and Milk, Cheese and Eggs (-0.3%) sub groups. The largest offsetting movement came from Oil and Fats (+0.2%) and Fruits (+0.1%) sub groups.
- Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance (-0.2%): was driven by Household Appliances (-0.8%) sub group.
- Transports (-0.1%): was driven by Operation of Personal Transports Equipment (-0.2%) sub group.
In the other part, the largest offsetting movement came from:
- Alcohol and Tobacco (+0.2): was driven by Tobacco (+0.3%).
- Clothing and Footwear (+0.2): was driven by Garment for Infant and Children (+0.4%).
