DILI, 04 March 2025 (TATOLI) – On Monday, the President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, delivered essential food and clothing to 200 families with disabilities across eight villages in Oecusse.
“The humanitarian package, which included shoes and other necessities, was made possible through collaboration with Japanese partners and was distributed at the Dominican Missionaries of the Rosary center,” said in a statement.
During the event, President Horta explained that this initiative aims to complement government efforts in supporting the most vulnerable citizens.
He emphasized that the presidency remains committed to working alongside government agencies to address community needs in remote areas.
Lifao Village Chief Selfino Sole expressed the community’s gratitude, noting that the timely assistance would help families from Nipani, Costa, Lifau, Cunha, Naimeco, Bobocase, Suniufe, and Taiboco meet their basic needs in the coming days.
This aid package represents President Horta’s ongoing initiatives to provide support to all regions in Timor-Leste, particularly those that are underserved.
