DILI, 11 March 2025 (TATOLI) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, today, met with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Indian Embassy in Timor-Leste, Arindam Banerjee, discussing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
At that meeting, the two parties discussed the process of implementing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Timor-Leste and India signed at the time of the visit of the President of the Republic to India and the visit of the Head of State of India to Timor-Leste, including the digitalization project as a pilot project that the Government of India intends to offer to Timor-Leste.
“The Indian Chargé d’Affaires also reiterated India’s commitment to supporting Timor-Leste in the health sector, scholarships for Timorese in areas such as “Indian Technological and Economic Cooperation – ITEC”, information technologies, engineering and the energy sector,” said in a statement released.
On the same occasion, Minister Freitas and Banerjee also discussed the land space for the construction of the Indian Embassy in Timor-Leste.
Freitas also made a request for an official visit to India to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
