DILI, 16 July 2025 (TATOLI) – The Council of Ministers has approved a Decree-Law granting a special availability and dedication allowance to those involved in the organization and execution of the XII CPLP Sports Games, set to take place in Timor-Leste from July 17 to 27, 2025.
The draft law, presented by the Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts, and Culture, Nelyo Isaac Sarmento, aims to formally recognize the commitment and efforts of hundreds of individuals working behind the scenes to ensure the successful delivery of the regional sporting event.
“The aim of the diploma is to recognize the efforts and guarantee the full availability of those involved in organizing and participating in Timor-Leste’s XII CPLP Sports Games,” Government said in a statement.
The allowance will be granted on an exceptional, one-time basis to volunteers, athletes, coaches, referees, officials, entertainers, contracted employees and civil servants from the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, who participate directly in the preparation and organization of the event.
According to the approved regulation, the allowance is designed to compensate for demanding work conditions, particularly the requirement to work overtime exceeding three hours per day, during the period from May 17 to July 27, 2025.
The list of eligible recipients will be determined by a ministerial order, based on documentation submitted by the Secretariat of the Local Organizing Committee of the CPLP Sports Games.
The Government said that the measure not only ensures fairness in compensation but also reflects the government’s commitment to delivering a well-organized and inclusive international sporting event, showcasing Timor-Leste’s growing role on the regional stage.
