DILI, 12 September 2025 (TATOLI) – The Bishop of Maliana and President of the Episcopal Conference of Timor-Leste, Dom Norberto do Amaral, will preside over the International Anniversary Pilgrimage at the Sanctuary of Fátima in Portugal on September 12 and 13.
The event marks the fifth apparition of Our Lady to the shepherd children in Cova da Iria in 1917.
According to the program released by the Sanctuary of Fátima, the celebrations will begin on the night of September 12 with the recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 p.m. local time.
The prayer at the Chapel of the Apparitions will be followed by a candlelight procession and a Liturgy of the Word at the Prayer Area Altar.
On the following day, a Prayer Vigil will be held at 2:00 a.m. in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary.
The vigil will include Eucharistic Adoration, veneration of Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto, and the Way of the Cross.
The highlight of the pilgrimage will be the International Mass at 9:00 a.m. at the Prayer Area Altar.
The Mass will include a blessing of the sick, concluding with the farewell procession and the return of Our Lady’s image to the Chapel of the Apparitions.
The International Anniversary Pilgrimage takes place in Fátima on the 12th and 13th of each month.
This September’s pilgrimage recalls the request made by Our Lady of the Rosary to the shepherd children for the prayer of the Rosary and acts of penance.
In September 1917, she also foretold the miracle that would occur the following month, later known as the “Miracle of the Sun.”
