DILI, 26 july 2024 (TATOLI) – The Central Bank of Timor-Leste (BCTL) and the National Bank of Cambodia (BNC) have signed an agreement to boost staff skills in banking operations, payment networks, digital innovation, supervisory procedures, the financial environment and human capital.
The agreement was signed by BCTL Governor Hélder Lopes and BNC Governor Chea Serey at the Sofitel Hotel in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
After signing the agreement, the two governors discussed and exchanged views on monetary policies and processes for the evolution of the banking sector in both countries.
“The bilateral meeting aimed to contribute to the development of the national banking sectors of Timor-Leste and Cambodia. The initiative aimed to strengthen cooperation in central bank operations, integrate payment links, boost digital financial innovations, ensure banking supervision, diversify the financial environment and develop the sector’s human resources,” a statement said.
In addition, the BCTL and BNC technical teams will also strengthen cooperation through regular exchanges of views, the sharing of information and data related to the economy and finance, as well as experience and technical knowledge.
