DILI, 10 june 2021 (TATOLI) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MNEC), Adaljiza Albertina Xavier Reis Magno informed that those Timorese who have stayed past their visa’s expiration date in foreign countries would have Tolerated Stay Permits.
“Regarding those Timorese people who are living in the foreign countries with expired visas, we have sent letters to those countries to let them know that we are aware of our citizens, who remain in those countries after their visas had been expired for more than a year now,” Magno told Tatoli, at MNEC’s office, in Dili, Today.
She said it was the decision that the government had taken to solve the situation of those Timorese people who have stayed past their visa’s expiration date in overseas countries, saying the Government of Timor-Leste had done the same thing to those foreigners who were currently residing in Timor-Leste with expired visas.
“We have sent the letters to those countries, and we haven’t received any response from them. But, I think they respect our decision to permit our citizens to reside there for another one a half years,” Magno said.
She said those letters had been sent to the Timor-Leste’s embassies overseas, to deliver to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of those countries.
