DILI, 17 june 2021 (TATOLI) – The Australian government through the Australian Embassy together with the Scholarship Award and Development Workforce Program – Timor-Leste (DWPTL) has tested 17 scholarship candidates and will select only one person to study in Australia this year .

The Director of the Timor-Leste Disability Association (ADTL), Cesario da Silva told to the reporter of the TATOLI News Agency this thursday at the ADTL office in Mascarenhas, that he really appreciates the Scholarship Award program from Australia through the Australian Embassy in Timor-Leste because it has involved persons with disabilities to compete.

“Since 2017 Scholarships from the Australian Award have been opened for persons with disabilities and today 17 scholarship candidates have taken the test at Timor Plaza and were supervised by DWPTL together with the Language English Lorosa’e Institute (LELI) because these two institutions are the implementing program of the Australian Award Scholarship to the people with disability so far,” Said Cesario.

Add quota in next year

On this occasion, Cesario on behalf of ADTL and all Persons with Disabilities Institutions in Timor-Leste would like to express his deep gratitude to the Australian Government through the Australian Embassy in Timor-Leste for providing the opportunity to the persons with disabilities to compete, but ADTL asked if possible to add quota in next year because since 2017 until now, persons with disabilities have the right for only 1 quota person who wants to continue their study in Australia.

He also encouraged all persons with disabilities in Timor-Leste to learn and to master english because now persons with disabilities are given the opportunity to achieve scholarships to continue their study in abroad.
