DILI, september 29, 2021 (TATOLI) – The Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE) is coordinating with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to procure indelible ink for the coming elections, saying the ink will be applied in the voters index finger after casting the ballots and helps to prevent electoral fraud.
Speaking to Tatoli during the interview, Alcino Manuel Branco, General Director of STAE said, the procurement process will be carried out by the UNDP, to guarantee the quality of the ink during the electoral process.
“The tender for the acquisition is ongoing”, said Branco at the residence of the National Elections Commission (CNE), in Caicoli, Dili, wednesday (29/09/2021)
Branco recalled that STAE, CNE, and political parties had agreed that the acquisition process would be handled by UNDP.
The Government wishes the ink to be acquired from abroad which is similar to previous years, it was purchased in India and Denmark.
Acilino Manuel Branco revealed that the Government allocated an amount of around 300 thousand US dollars for the procurement of the indelible ink.
