DILI, 18 october 2021 ( TATOLI) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MNEC) Adaljiza Albertina Xavier dos Reis Magno, said Timor Leste and Indonesia would work together to rebuild the border wall in Vatugede Mota Ain.

“The Department of Bilateral of MoFAC will soon meet with the Indonesian Foreign Affairs in Kupang to discuss the construction of the border wall in Batugede which collapsed due to a natural disaster,” Foreign Affairs Minister, Adaljiza Magno commented on the Ministry of Finance’s office in Pantai Kelapa, Dili. today.

Magno added that the Government through the MoFAC had included the budget for the construction in the 2022 General State Budget: “The plan will soon be compiled after both countries team complete the verification of data from the border,”

Border markers serve as markers for the boundaries of the two countries between Timor – Leste and the Republic of Indonesia, therefore the missing border markers must be rebuilt.

According to a report by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 554 stakes across the border between Timor-Leste and Indonesia and 68 border posts at Mota-Ain Vatugade were destroyed during flash floods.
