DILI, 30 november 2021 (TATOLI)- The Association for People with Disability in Timor-Leste (ADTL) to construct a mental health unit for people with the personality disorder in Timor-Leste by 2022.
The Director of ADTL, Sezario da Silva said, the construction of a mental health unit is the new priority program that the Association will begin to implement in 2022, adding that the unit will be used to accommodate people with a personality disorder.
“This is one of the new priority programs of ADTL in 2022, to build a mental health unit for people with mental disorder to acquire the attention from the Government,” Silva informed Tatoli at the City 8 Comorro Dili recently.
Silva at the same time outlined the other three priority programs that have been implemented during this time and will continue to implement in 2021 such as Advocacy, Capacity Building, and cooperatives programs, saying these programs consist of computer courses, English courses, and other training related to the capacity of People with Disability, education, and research, as well as cooperative programs.
According to Silva, during this time, the Association had not been receiving the fund from the government to support their activities however ADTL receives financial support from the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) every year with a total amount of $180,000 to support their activities.
“I heard the information that the Government of Timor – Leste will offer the donation to ADTL in 2022 but have no clue about how much funds will be allocated to ADTL, therefore I hope that the fate of the people with a personality disorder will soon be noticed by the government following the SDG’s moto “left no one behind,”
