DILI, 25 january 2022 (TATOLI) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adaljiza Magno as Head of Delegation, consisting of the Vice-Minister for Social Solidarity, Signi Chandrawati Verdial, and the Vice-Minister of Commerce and Industry, Domingos Lopes Antunes, will pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
“Minister Magno and the delegation will be on their first official visit to the Kingdom with the objective of strengthening diplomatic relations and bilateral cooperation between the two countries,” revealed the press release that MNEC addressed to Tatoli today.

The visit, according to the press released, will also include the meeting between the Head of the Delegation and her counterpart, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Mr. PRAK Sokhonn to discuss in-depth how Timor-Leste and the Kingdom of Cambodia can best collaborate in advocating for Timor-Leste’s ASEAN accession.
This year marks the 11th year of Timor-Leste’s accession bid to ASEAN. While Timor-Leste is preparing to host the physical Fact Finding Missions from ASEAN on Economic Pillar and Socio-Cultural Pillar, Timor-Leste also hopes that there will be a clear timeline for the accession during the Chairmanship of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The official visit is also an opportunity for the two sides to discuss further strengthening existing bilateral relations and also seek opportunities for potential cooperation in other strategic sectors in the future.
Timor-Leste’s delegation departs from Díli to Phnom Penh on 25 January 2022 and will return on 30 january 2022.
