DILI, 05 march 2022 (TATOLI) – Timorese Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, sent his heartfelt sympathies to the victims of Australia’s recent floods.
“So sad that I’ve watched in the media these past few weeks about devastating floods in New South Wales and Queensland. My heartfelt sympathies to my counterpart Scott Morrison, his government, and the people of Australia in these difficult times, and I hope they will quickly get through this situation,” Taur Matan Ruak tweeted earlier today.
Many Australians in Queensland and NSW have been severely impacted by the recent floods and storms, as a result, many have been displaced from their homes.
Queensland’s flood death toll has risen to 11 after police divers recovered the body of a woman in waters at the Gold Coast this morning, 9 news reported.
Meanwhile, NSW reported that the number of flood-related fatalities in New South Wales has risen to six.
The Guardian reported that so far more than 15.000 homes are estimated to have been flooded in Brisbane and more than 54.000 homes are without power.
