DILI, 10 march 2022 (TATOLI) – The Administrative Council of the Infrastructure Fund (CAFI) met with Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak to discuss priorities for 2022 infrastructure development.
The meeting was held at the Palace of the Government, attended by the members of the Government that make up the CAFI, including the Minister of Finance, Rui Augusto Gomes, Minister of Public Works, Salvador Soares dos Reis Pires, Minister of Transport and Communications, José Agustinho da Silva, National Development Authority (ADN) and accompanied by the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães.
“It’s an extended meeting between the members of the Government that make up the CAFI and Prime Minister Ruak. The meeting was solely focused on infrastructure development. It’s an effort made by His Excellency Prime Minister to instruct CAFI members to accelerate the infrastructure development in the country this year,” Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães told reporters after the meeting at the palace of the government, in Dili, today.
He said the meeting was important to find solutions for the acceleration of national infrastructure development.
“Today’s discussion focused on efforts that CAFI and Infrastructure Fund would make to accelerate the 2022 infrastructure development projects. This meeting is important for CAFI members to coordinate with each other and the Infrastructure Development Agency (ADN) to find a problem-solving framework for national infrastructure development,” he said.
Magalhães added impediments to infrastructure development in the country have been identified, saying solutions have also been outlined during the meeting to accelerate the national development in the country within the year 2022.
The Government of Timor-Leste allocated more than US$300 million of its 2022 General State Budget to the infrastructure fund to implement more than 700 infrastructure projects this year.
