DILI, 11 march 2022 (TATOLI)- The presidential candidate Fransisco Guterres Lú Olo has shown a positive performance on his mandate as a President of the Republic of Timor-Leste. His credibility internationally is evidenced by 82 credential letters from different countries have been presented to him.
The Success Team of Presidential Candidate on serial number 6, Fernando Dias Gusmão in a press conference said Fretelin presidential candidate Lú Olo also inaugurated 28 timorese ambassadors who have been assigned in different countries.
“The presidential candidate Francisco Guterres Lú Olo has credibility duties on international relations. He was invited to visit the Vatican. It was due to a political decision the members of national parliament did not vote for his departure,” The Success Team of Presidential candidate with the serial number 6, Fernando Dias Gusmão told reports at Luz Clarita meeting room, in Bairru dos grilhos this thursday.
Mr. Gusmão added that it does not mean without visiting other countries the international relation will fail. However, President of Republic Francisco Guterres Lú Olo committed to ensuring Timor-Leste join ASEAN members.
“Monseñór Marco Prizzi confirmed that in 2022, Pope Fransisco will visit Timor-Leste. This result is the reason that President Fransisco Lú Olo sent a letter to the Pope last 2018. All goods, international relations and communication showing positive performance of President of the Republic Lú Olo must be appreciated.
The president made good progress on attending virtual meetings for discussing with ASEAN members in Cambodia to ensure Timor-Leste should join ASEAN. The discussion resulted in Cambodia totally supporting Timor-Leste to become ASEAN member.
Mr. Gusmão stressed It is not reasonable and true that during the mandate of President Republic Francisco Guterres Lú Olo against the Timor-Leste Constitution and no collectivity on international relations.
President Francisco Gutteres still has good communication on strengthening bilateral relations and gained confidence from other countries coming to Timor-Leste.
In 2022, the Democracy Index showed Timor-Leste in rank “seven most robust in ASIA and Australia.” It means Timor is in good progress in the Global democracy index. There are countries shown in the democracy index composed of Australia, South of Korea, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Taiwan and Timor-Leste.
It is known that in 2021, Timor-Leste ranked 82 in the Corruption Index in the world. It is better because Indonesia is ranked 96th and the Philippines is 117. For Portuguese Speaking countries (CPLP), Brazil is in 96 and Guinea Bissau in 162 ranking.
