DILI, 23 march 2022 (TATOLI)-The Asian Futsal Federation 2022 is officially announced Timor- Leste national team of Futsal will play for Championship in Bangkok.

The Timor-Leste national team has officially announced 20 players who will play for the competition of the 2022 AFF Futsal Championship to be held in Bangkok early next month. This year’s AFF Futsal Championship will be held from april 2-10, 2022 at the Huamark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok.

According to the Asean Football official website www.aseanfootball.org, Timor-Leste’s team composed of 20 players as Adriel Philbert Pereira; Andre Carvalho Vong; Bendito de Ramos Maria Ximenes; Cesario Silvano Barreto; Ilidio de Jesus Nunes; Eufrasio Amaral Soares.

Evinho’s Manuel Belo’s Assis do Rêgo Guterres; João Paulo Canizio de Sousa; Joel Baptista Canizio Fernandes; Miguel Correia Lay Fernandes; Nivaldo Joaquim Pereira Mesquita; Remígio Inácio Mai de Araújo.

As for the player Rivaldo Faria Ribeiro; Romúlo Escurial; Ruben Faria do Carmo Borges; Venceslau Fátima Guterres; José Matamalai Lopes; Domingos dos Santos Gama; Marcos Fátima Belo Guterres; Fernando Ronaldo da Costa.

“The team, trained by Jorge Fernandes da Silva are in Group B against Vietnam, Myanmar, and Australia. Timor-Leste’s opening match will be against Australia on april 4, 2022,” said the official press release.

Previously on february 21, 2022, the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) had announced the group draws for the 17th Asian Football Federation Championship to be hosted in Thailand in April, where Timor-Leste (TL) were drawn in group B.

It is known that there are nine teams that will play it out for the 2022 AFF Futsal Championship title which will also be the ASEAN qualifying tournament to the Kuwait 2022 AFC Futsal Asian Cup, with three teams advancing to the Finals.

Defending champion Thailand, who has won the AFF Futsal Championship for15 times, in Group A with Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Brunei Darussalam.

It is known that Thailand is the reigning AFF Futsal Champion, and has won 15 of the 16 editions of the competition since its inception in 2001.
